After injection, you have to shift both the males and females (about 100 fish) to the breeding tank (1oft / 8ft) at 1:1 ratio which is provided with artificial aeration. The spawners need to remove from the breeding tank after 7-8 hours when breeding activity was over.

Fishes release eggs within 3 hours of injecting. All eggs will not release at a time. The spawners need to remove from the spawning tank after 7-8 hours when breeding activity is over. The eggs of Vietnam koi float on the surface of the water in the pond. Impregnation periods are mostly about 10 hours. The Impregnation and hatching rate depends on a parent’s fitness. Fecundity rate about 20-30 thousand. After 18 hours enormous numbers of eggs will be fertilized.

3. Feeding

Finally, within 72 hours yolk sacs will be absorbed. Then 2 boiled egg yolks of duck have to serve for first feeding. Boiled egg yolk (blended) mix with cyclop- EEZE and spreader out the breeding tank. Give first feeding in the morning (9.30 am to 10:30 am) and afternoon (4 pm to 5 pm). 4. Stocking Fry In Nursery Pond

Nursing can be done in two different ponds. After drying, liming, and fencing you have watering in the pond. The water would be up to 3 ft. depth and 100 g flour/decimal are mixed with pond water. This flour helps in the growth of a lot of zooplankton in water which is very essential for fry as natural feed. The water height of the nursing pond will be 2- 2.5 ft. After 7 days of hatching in a tank or pond, you should better stop egg feeding, rather provide flour mixed feed, though you then also use nursery feed (floating powder).

Then release the smallest Vietnamese koi fry into the nursery pond from the breeding tank 3-4 days later from spawning. Fry stocked at 10000/decimal is generally accepted. You have to feed 3 times/ day (morning, noon, and evening). Provide as feed flour and egg yolk first 5 days. After 2-3 days, you can feed them as flour and nursery feed (3kg feed/ 1kg seed). Nursing 20- 22 days when fry become 5000 fry/ kg (each fry 0.2 gm). The picture is taken from tradeindia.com.

5. Stocking Of Fingerlings In Rearing Pond

After 20- 22 days of nursing fingerling release into the rearing pond. Stocking density is 1500 – 2000/ decimal. The earthen pond is better for rearing Vietnam koi fingerlings. The perfect size of the rearing earthen pond is 50-60 decimal. The ideal depth of the rearing earthen pond is 3-6 feet.

6. Feeding In Culture Pond

Feed the stocked fish with the prepared feed twice a day at the rate of 5% body weight.  About 2/3 of the total feed provide in the morning (9.00 am to 10.00 am.) and the rest of the ration in the afternoon (16.00 to 17.00 pm). And finally, apply pellet feed before marketing.  You need to monitor the growth rate of the fingerlings 10mg/month is perfect you think.

The rearing stage is generally accomplished in 31-60 days. After that fish fry release into the culture pond. The size of the culture pond is 50-60 decimal. In this situation, you should supply artificial feed at the rate of 5-7% of the total body weight daily.

Agitation of water is another necessary thing to control water quality.  You can do it both traditional or modern way. The traditional water treatment process is used in comparatively poor countries.

Liming, fertilizing and pulling horra and agitation of water need to accomplish when it is needed according to the existing situations of the farming ponds. In the case of excessive planktonic growth or bloom that might cause water quality deterioration, you have to exchange water to maintain the quality parameters within a suitable level.

If there is excessive gas and the water become foul-smelling due to using excessive food and fertilizer (especially rough food) then a medicine named zeolite or lime mixing with water is recommended to use after every 15 days.

For selling purposes, you should collect fishes at dawn. Better to complete harvesting by seine net. For Vietnam koi fish, harvesting must be accomplished at late-night.
